PAC Code- What is it?
A Port Authorisation Code (PAC). If you wish to keep your current number when switching to a new network, you will require to firstly get your PAC Code from your present mobile phone provider.
Can I keep my current mobile number if I decide to move to another network?
Yes. Before terminating your contract, you need to firstly receive your PAC Code from your mobile phone provider. It can be issued over the phone or sent by post, usually within in 2 working days. You will need to give your PAC code to your new provider so that they can 'port' your number across to their network.
To change networks, follow the simple steps below:
1) Check with your existing mobile phone provider what your contractual terms are. You will most likely have to complete your exisiting contract term, buy yourself out up to the finish of the remaining contract period before you will be able to change providers
2) When you have got your PAC (Port Authorisation Code) you are now able to find the best deals to suit your requirements and order online - during the check out process there will be an area where you can enter your PAC code. 3) Within 7 days the process should be complete and your exisiting SIM will stop working. Your new mobile phone provider will provide you with a fresh SIM card.
If you decide to stay with the same mobile phone provider then you will be unable to 'port' your number and instead they will give you an upgrade.
You will be unable to 'port' your number if you have not finished the contract with your existing provider. Check your contractual terms for more information.
Please note - that you should not end your contract with the existing provider until they have provided you with the PAC code, free of charge, and you have given this to your new mobile phone provider. If you cancel before then your new service provider may be unable to move your number across and you may also incur a connection fee.
